Who We Are



Ayelet Talmi, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Director, The Irving Harris Program in Child Development and Infant Mental Health, University of Colorado Denver. She is the Clinical Director of Project CLIMB and the Associate Director of the Center for Family and Infant Interaction. Dr. Talmi received her Ph.D. from the University of Denver in Child Clinical and Developmental Psychology. She interned at The Children's Hospital in Denver and completed a Developmental Psychobiology Research Group fellowship at the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Talmi is a pediatric psychologist with extensive infant mental health experience in research and clinical work. She is a graduate Solnit Fellow of Zero to Three/National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families and is the President of the Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health.






Joy Browne, Ph.D., RN.,
is AssociateProfessor of Pediatrics, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Director of the Center for Family and Infant Interaction, a component of JFK Partners, Colorado's UAP. Dr. Browne graduated with PhD, MS, University of New Mexico with a specialty in infant development, and health psychology, specialty in maternal-child nursing. She also has BSN, MSN, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia, and Diploma, RN, Georgia Baptist Hospital College of Nursing. Dr. Browne also directs the Colorado NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) Center and FIRST (Family Infant Relationship Support Training) programs, the Colorado Consortium of Intensive Care Nurseries, and the NICU Leadership group. Her area of expertise is neurobehavioral assessment and intervention with high risk infants and their families. Also, she consults on systems change toward developmentally supportive and family centered care. Dr. Browne developed BEGINNINGS, an interim Individualized Family Service Plan for newborns with special needs. She has provided supervision to Assistive Technology students and has a grant pending which focuses on assistive technology education for developmental care of infants. She conducts numerous training programs and consults regionally, national, and internationally.



Mandi Millar, B.A., is the Project Coordinator for WONDERbabies. She coordinates quarterly partnership meetings, the annual WONDERbabies conference, maintains contact among partner organizations, and represents WONDERbabies for Medical Home Advisory Board meetings, as well as state and national conferences. Mandi’s experience includes working with children and families with special needs, promoting a family-centered, child-based approach to early intervention, as well as implementing behavioral therapy techniques for children with autism and other developmental delays. Mandi has organized trainings on best practices for Philadelphia early intervention providers, collected data on the strengths and needs of inner-city family day care homes, and developed a training program for providers who work with children with autism. Mandi has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has worked in research for several years with a variety of populations.
